Slim, Portable, Powerful, and Affordable Laptops

We’ve talked about large laptops that can fill the shoes of most desktop computers and we’ve talked about the super small netbooks. Seeing as how we’ve paid attention to the extreme ends of the spectrum, we’re going toward the middle and talk about slim and light laptops. They’re more portable that the desktop replacements and far more capable than the netbooks.

The HP Pavilion dv3z is a 13-inch laptop designed for those that need admirable performance but have to stay in a budget. For less than $1,000, you get plenty of features, like a decent sized keyboard, a long-lasting battery, 4GB of RAM, dual-layer DVD burner, and respectable graphics ability. The unit’s AMD processor isn’t quite as powerful as an Intel Core 2 Duo, but it’s better that most offerings in that price range.

Another great offering for small businesses and start-up companies is the Dell Vostro 1310. It’s 13-inch screen is capable of resolution up to 1440x900. It also includes touch-sensitive media buttons and a slot-loading DVD burner. All this for as little as $750 (although more features equal more money).

If you need slim, portable, and powerful, but don’t want to dip into next quarter’s budget, there are plenty of available items if you just shop around a bit. If you want to rent before you buy, try our computer rental service in Utah.
