Renting Computers for the Holiday Rush

Even though summer hasn’t officially arrived yet, it’s not too early to begin thinking about how the holidays are going to affect your business. If you are in a retail business, either at a brick and mortar store on online, odds are that you will need to take on some extra help before the holidays pick up momentum. If you deal exclusively with online customers, hiring extra help will probably mean bringing in extra hardware. But with the economy as shaky as it is right now, how can you get the computers you need without spending more than you have to? The answer is renting.

When your seasonal employees come in to help fill the orders that come in from the Internet or over the phone, they are each going to need their own computer. By renting the computers you need for a short period of time, you can simply turn them in and walk away when the holiday rush is over.

Don’t let a lack of manpower or computing power prevent your sales business from reaping the benefits of the holiday season. Rent enough computers to fill your customers’ orders. By making sure you have what it takes to provide excellent service, you’ll guarantee success for the coming year.

Internet Desktops for a Tight Budget

We’ve previously discussed netbooks, the tiny laptops that are geared for Internet use. Today, we’ll take a look at their desktop equivalent, commonly referred to as nettops. Just as the netbooks are small, underpowered laptops that are designed to give the user the most basic functionality for a fraction of the cost, nettops are essentially the same thing in desktop form. With the already low cost of desktop computer rentals, one may wonder what use a nettop might have. Rest assured, there is an ideal niche for these machines in the business world.

Nettops are ideal for large training that requires Internet connectivity, especially when a large number of machines is required. While many companies will use older computer to fill this need, the nettops are better suited for the task because they have been designed with Internet use in mind. This means that they will perform much better than a four or five year old computer for the same task.

To learn more about these budget-minded machines, look up the Zonbu Desktop Mini or the Asus Eee Box PC. They may just fill your companies needs without emptying the budget.

Slim, Portable, Powerful, and Affordable Laptops

We’ve talked about large laptops that can fill the shoes of most desktop computers and we’ve talked about the super small netbooks. Seeing as how we’ve paid attention to the extreme ends of the spectrum, we’re going toward the middle and talk about slim and light laptops. They’re more portable that the desktop replacements and far more capable than the netbooks.

The HP Pavilion dv3z is a 13-inch laptop designed for those that need admirable performance but have to stay in a budget. For less than $1,000, you get plenty of features, like a decent sized keyboard, a long-lasting battery, 4GB of RAM, dual-layer DVD burner, and respectable graphics ability. The unit’s AMD processor isn’t quite as powerful as an Intel Core 2 Duo, but it’s better that most offerings in that price range.

Another great offering for small businesses and start-up companies is the Dell Vostro 1310. It’s 13-inch screen is capable of resolution up to 1440x900. It also includes touch-sensitive media buttons and a slot-loading DVD burner. All this for as little as $750 (although more features equal more money).
